Malaysia Green Program through 100 Million Tree Planting Campaign has been launched by 8th Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on 5 January 2021 Seri Perdana, Putrajaya.
In conjunction with the campaign, Kajang Municipal Council has organized Tree Planting Program with a strategic collaboration with Yayasan Hijau Malaysia involving the donation of 350 trees (species: cinnamon, tamarind, ‘kasai’, ‘tampoi’, ‘nona’, ‘jentik-jentik’, cloves, ‘sentul’ dan cinnamon) with aromatic concept dan ‘nadi’ tree. Sun Life Malaysia is pleased to donate 350 trees to the Kajang Municipal Council which will be planted on Saturday 23 July 2022 at Taman Rekreasi Sg. Chua Kajang.
YBhg. Tuan Haji Najmuddin Bin Jemain Chairman of Kajang Municipal Council, YBrs. Mr. Ho Teck Seng, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Sun Life Malaysia and YBrs. Encik Amin Abdullah Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan Hijau completed the signing historical plaque and the Nadir fruit tree planting ceremony. Nadir means a rare fruit tree. This tree is found in certain areas of the state only, making it very rare to find, and rarely to be used as a dish. MPKj takes incentives and social responsibility so that these rare fruit trees can be planted in appropriate locations within the administrative area of the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj).
MPKj currently active implementing the Tree Planting Program to achieve the target that has been set by the Selangor State Government of 55 thousand trees each year and the Planting Report is sent to the Selangor State Government. From 2017 to the middle of 2022 MPKj has planted trees of various species amounting to 381,793 trees. It is in line with the Policy of the Selangor State Government and the Municipal Council, especially in the efforts towards a Low Carbon Green Municipality as stipulated in the Kajang Municipal Council's Strategic Plan.
A total of 60 volunteers from Sun Life Malaysia and MPKj participated in social responsibility by planting trees on this beautiful Saturday. High appreciation and Thank You for MPKj contributors Sun Life Malaysia and Yayasan Hijau Malaysia that always cooperate with the Council to support environmental greening programs in order to conserve this earth safely and sustainably.
